Background history: My first bike was a Honda QR 50 at the age of 4, which incidentally was stolen! . I was without a bike for about a year or so before I got a TY80 when I was 7 for christmas. The TY80 was a big wheel Majesty that my Dad and Adam converted to small wheels and I started to do a few club trials after getting interested going to watch them ride.
My first trial was a Yeadon and Guiseley trial at Addingham Moorside in the small wheel class which I won. In 2001, after the TY80 I had a Gas Gas rookie 80cc. In 2002 I moved on to a Beta rev 3 125 and I have been with Beta ever since. I am currently riding a Miton Top Trial Team/Beta UK 2008 Beta rev 3 125 after being lucky enough to get noticed and signed by the team, with thanks to John Lampkin. From the age of 7 to around 13 I rode cycle trials as well as motorcycle trials. I think this helped me a lot in learning how to ride. The modern style of riding definitely uses cycle trial skills and I think having used to ride cycle trials is an advantage to me.My father used to ride speedway back in the eighties. He rode for Sheffield Tigers and could have possibly gone professional if he had the backing that I have had. Both my mother and father have encouraged me all the way up to now and are still encouraging me to go forward and take all the opportunities I get. Without them, none of this would be possible! My dad owns a granite company (R.C.Marble & Sons) along with my uncle Adam. They work with granite and marble for kitchens and bathrooms (worktops, vanities, floor tiles, golf course signage) When I’m not on the bike my other interests are snowboarding, playing the guitar and socialising with friends.
